How to plan a month of social media content
To plan a month of social media, decide three to five content pillars, choose a mix of formats, fix the days you post on, mark the month's special days, and give every slot one concrete idea. Then produce early, approve once and schedule.

Five steps to a planned month
- 1
Choose your content pillars
Three to five recurring themes your brand posts about, such as products, behind the scenes, customers and place. Decide roughly how much of the month each one gets.
- 2
Choose a format mix
Posts, carousels, stories, reels and shorts do different jobs. Feed posts and carousels explain, stories keep you present, vertical video reaches new people.
- 3
Fix your posting days
Pick days you can keep every week. A steady rhythm reads better than bursts followed by silence.
- 4
Mark the special days
Holidays, local events, launches and seasonal moments. Plan into them early enough to make them properly.
- 5
Give every slot one idea
Not "product showcase" but a specific picture and a specific sentence. A slot without an idea is a slot you will fill in a hurry.
An example week from a planned month
A restaurant posting five days a week, with four pillars: the menu, the kitchen, the room and the guests.
| Day | Format | Pillar | Idea |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | Post | The menu | The week's special, photographed at the pass |
| Tuesday | Story | The kitchen | Morning delivery of the day's fish |
| Wednesday | Reels | The kitchen | One dish plated in one continuous shot |
| Friday | Carousel | The room | Four corners of the dining room at dusk |
| Saturday | Post | The guests | A long table set for a weekend lunch |

Questions people ask
How many posts should a brand publish a month?
As many as you can keep up every week. A steady rhythm matters more than a high number. Decide the posting days first and let the count follow.
What is a content pillar?
A recurring theme your brand posts about, such as products, behind the scenes or customers. Three to five pillars keep a month varied without losing focus.
How far ahead should I plan?
A month at a time, with special days marked earlier, so there is time to make them properly.
